Attend the Dokeos conference at EFODL, Oct 1, Charleroi

EFODL ConferenceThe EFODL (European Federation for Open and Digital Learning) organises a conference on Oct 1, 2 and in Charleroi with the theme E-Learning 2.0 : A Second Life for e-learning.

The arrival of Web 2.0 and its accompanying technologies open new perspectives for e-learning. For some time now, some would love to see the ‘e’ disappear from the term e-learning. They claim that the real issue is the pedagogical efficiency, regardless of the instruments that are being used.

This new world of Web places the end-user in the centre of the system. Making content for this enormous library is no longer a privilege of an élite: we are all invited to participate. This leads without any doubt to a hotchpotch of styles, which means that rules, conduct, and practice will have to be redefined by the shared community of users.

To prohibit, regulate or punish the drifters … this will no longer be sufficient to bring some order in this resource abundance. On the contrary, training and education will be the real challenge for the future.

Even for trainers, teachers and management, it is difficult not to be overwhelmed by these new practices. The purpose of this conference is to give a general overview of the pedagogical applications based on the tools of Web 2.0.

Thomas De Praetere of Dokeos and Jean-Luc deladrière of Hanabi are in with talks on Mindmapping your e-learning project.
