Dokeos 1.8.4 : the authoring LMS
Dokeos 1.8.4 is released and adds an authoring layer. It is now possible to create content pages directly in the web page, following the Web 2.0 evolution.
The tool offers multimedia templates inspired of most common training situations : Diagram explained, Video with comments, Resizable Flash animation, Comparison table etc.
The Wide Hotspots feature allows to create tests very close to real-life situations, based on desktop screenshots, images of situations, human faces pictures, etc. that you can click on to answer the course questions. Contents, tests and hotspots can be sequenced to create an e-course using the self-explaining Learning Path Builder and exported as SCORM packages.
The PowerPoint conversion feature allows to recycle existing content (classroom training material) without loosing the interactivity : add audio on slides, insert tests and hotspots between the slides.
The whole solution respects e-learning and web standards (SCORM, W3C WACG etc.) and works in any browser. This makes of Dokeos 1.8.4 the first open source learning suite.
This release also introduces more Mr Dokeos galleries, imroved collaborative blogs system and a Flash Video streaming management system integrated in the Documents tool.
The installation manual and the upgrade engine were both redesigned.
