How to read the reporting tool?
I am experiencing some challenges with the reporting tool (Dokeos 2.1):
* it doesn't report on quizzes (it's frozen on "there is no quiz yet") regardless of how many times users take a quiz.
* score calculation doesn't update when gradebook weights are changed
At first I thought this was a bug (doubtful), now I realize that must have something to do with the file/folder permission challenge I have reported in http://www.dokeos.com/en/node/10851
Any idea on how to fix this?

Display issue
Hi Sebastian,
I think this is not a bug but an unclear interface. The logic of Dokeos 2.1 is that this line of reporting only displays quizzes that were taken OUTSIDE modules. Where quizzes INSIDE modules are scored and their reporting appears in TRIANGLE > Display > PLUS. And there you go.
But I agree should be improved in 2.2.
Thank you for the
Thank you for the clarification.
I got it to work as you suggested.
One thing still confuses me though: how exactly is the overall score in the reporting tool calculated? I have erased all set conditions in the gradebook, completed "92.1%" of the course I created, passed the 1 test with 100% score, yet my total score is still only 38%. What am I missing?
Score calculated in modules
Hi Sebastian,
The score is divided with all quizzes. For instance if you have 5 modules of 2 quizzes and you finished 2 learning paths. You get your score for the 4 quizzes but you "loose" the 6 quizzes still not started.
Hello Karim,thank you for
Hello Karim,
Thank you for your reply.
It doesn't seem to be that simple. See below.
I had a score yesterday (even though it didnt' made sense to me). It is gone today. All I did was to change the folder permission of /dokeos/courses/ from the local user back to the apache user (I wanted to be able to upload via ftp but this proved way too confusing).
Your comments on questions 1, 2, 3 and 4 in this image are much appreciated. Thanks!
Before I respond to your
Before I respond to your questions, let me explain first how the scores of Modules and Quizzes work. First of all, you can use quizzes 2 ways: either by integrating them in Modules or by using the Quiz tool. When integrated in a Module you will see the score of the quiz in the Score column under the Modules section of Reporting. If you use the Quiz tool, you will see the scores under the Quiz section of Reporting.
Now here my responses to your questions:
1) Indeed because quizzes have probably not been included in the modules. As mentioned before this will be the average progress of all modules.
2) Indeed, this score will change when you add quizzes to your modules. This score is also the average score of all modules.
3) + 4) Please see my explanation above about using quizzes.
AaaaahI got it to work now

I got it to work now that you've made this clear.
Consider explaining that as well in the trainer manual. That would be helpful to future generations of Dokeos trainers.
Thank you.
Scoring display unclear
Hi Sebastian,
Correct. This would need a minima an explanation in the trainer manual. A maxima a fix in the software. Like : display in Quizzes section the quizzes taken in modules too.
Thanks for helping us polish the software. We really need people like you who use it and test it thoroughly and force us finalize things that are not 100% complete so far.

...which is why I created a new user, re-tested everything, and I am still as confused as ever about this reporting tool. As the Japanese say, when you are 99% finished, you're about halfway there.
See screenshot below, from the user interface.

Kept trying and trying and finally got it to work.
Here is the bug: if a quiz has a timer, its score does not get recorded.
Suggestion for improvement: you are separating the course score from the quiz score. Consider either including an option where the trainer gets to choose (separate or merge), or making that clear in the trainer manual.
In my case: I have one quiz per lesson, and one final quiz. In your current setup the only way to get 1 reporting for the entire course is to create a module just for that final quiz and embed it in it. Sadly, if I do that learners won't have access to the "details" section in the reporting page + they will be very possibly confused about the existance of the "quiz" table inside the reporting ('cause their won't be any quizzes displaying in there. I can't have them fill out quizzes inside the modules, and see scores of 0% + "Not yet attempted" in the quiz tool / reporting section)
Good Work !
I got it to convention as you suggested.
One creature still confuses me though: how exactly is the overall score in the reporting facility calculated? I have erased all series inclination in the gradebook, completed "92.1%" of the circuit I created, passed the 1 trial with 100% score, yet my total score is still only 38%. What am I missing?
