SCORM has been around for a while now, and has been integrated in Dokeos since 2004 (version 1.5), first in a very light implementation, then in a much more compliant, deeper way in 1.8. This implementation has always supported SCORM version 1.2.
This year, LETSI (Learning - Education - Training Systems Interoperability) took the responsibility of starting the implementation of version 2.0 of the standard, thus initiating the process by issuing a public Call for White Papers to collect ideas on how to make the standard more interoperable than its predecessors.
Having accumulated a bunch of tricky experiences with SCORM 1.2, we decided to take the opportunity to contribute to this great initiative, and have suggested 10 improvements to SCORM, mostly to decrease the learning curve.
This is the first time the Dokeos team contributes to the design of an e-learning standard, and we see that as both an organisational improvement and a sign of a light shift from minor to major contributions in the e-learning world.
